Episode 38 - David Sylvester Opening Playground July '16

"This mix was recorded last weekend at the Playground party, where I opened up the floor. It was an honor to play with our guest DJs Octo Octa and Andy Warren, and of course my co-resident Sappho. This mix features dub techno, minimal, and hypnotic percussion grooves, and it’s essentially bookended with two tracks from one of my all time favorites, outspoken trans producer DJ Sprinkles."

Episode 36 - Pure Noise

Pure Noise is a fresh new talent on the Portland queer scene with a distinctive style that's all his own. Growing up playing the drums, his love of electronic music began at a very young age as soon as he heard his first house beat. His taste reaches across the entire spectrum of electronic music, and his style is colorful, hyper-melodic, and maximalist, combining everything from dub techno and psychedelic disco to vocal house and pop. His sets typically thread together his love for the cutting edge as well as classic gems, and usually feature one of his custom techno-pop mash-ups.

He has played at numerous venues around the city including Holocene, Crush, and Moloko for parties such as Yes Please and Dance Off Pants Off alongside talented DJs like Sappho, Chelsea Starr, and Coast2c.

He is currently enjoying a residence for BANANAS at Seattle’s notorious gay bar Pony, as a guest of Portland-based DJ Vera Rubin.

Episode 27 - Ant C & David Sylvester

Ant C is a self-described “beardy music nut and clubber turned DJ.” The London-based DJ and promoter discovered house and dance music in the late 80s - he attended his first rave at age 15 in 1990. Along with Chris Camplin and James Baillie, he’s a co-founder and residen at TUSK, a club night at Dalston Superstore which turned 1 year old in February. TUSK is a mixed club night in every sense - gay and straight, male and female, young and and old - all are welcome. he uniting factor is the music - house, techno, disco, acid and all that's in between. That’s also a fitting description for the mix that Ant C has prepared for us.

Episode 26 - Jason Douglas

Jason Douglas is one of the best DJs on the West Coast. With years of experience playing vinyl, in San Francisco and now in Portland, Jason effortlessly distills everything that’s exciting and important about West Coast raving. This mix showcases his range and depth, along with his impressive technical skills. He weaves together a mind-expanding combination of deep house, acid, disco, and experimental electronica, but the music never abandons its prime directive: to get your body moving.
